First Blog Post!
Good Morning all you twenties somethings (or even thirty, forty, fifty, sixty somethings)!
If you're like me then you have come to the realization that you are in the REAL WORLD and must figure out your way through it. Maybe you just graduated from college and started your first job (doesn't pay much does it?) or maybe you're a single mom in her forties just trying to figure out how to get along or maybe you just want some extra money (because who doesn't need a little extra?).I graduated from college two years ago and was thrown into the real world where I got my first job making only $10 an hour. As a new graduate with my Bachelor's degree, my sad $10 an hour paycheck was NOT what I imagined for myself. I thought for sure I would come out of college with a great job that paid me well enough to afford the luxuries I thought I very much needed. Now, I know I shouldn't have thought this. My family has never been well off and hard work was something instilled in me at a very young age. As a new grad filled with knowledge, but not filled with cash, I learned the hard way how to make it through.
On my $10 an hour paycheck, I was paying for an apartment (a tiny awful place that had no heat, but it was mine and only mine), living by myself, and STRUGGLING. I was so upset most of the time because after all my bills, I would barely have $20 in my bank account. I could not go out with friends, I could not splurge at the grocery store, and I could not always buy gas for my car to make it to work.
Now I'm fortunate to have a job that pays me a great bit more than $10 an hour and live with a roommate that allows me to save more money than I would have been able to alone. Even with the new salary and living situation, I still take the lessons/ frugal ways I learned when living (HARDLY) paycheck to paycheck and apply it now. I still live like I make $10, okay maybe like $12 an hour now.
SO TO GET TO THE POINT OF THIS....
This blog was born with the idea that I wanted to share with others, so that maybe even one thing I did would help them make or save a little more money. I want to share what I did and still do! So that's what i'm going to do. Every blog post will be another way to help somehow, even if it's just a little.
So stay tuned.....
